Congratulations to Eloise Harwood for her promotion to GAPA Head Girl for 2018. Also, Madeleine Wrigley has been promoted to Dance Captain, and Sophie Gray to Head Prefect. ISTD Creation Choreographic Awards 2017

Huge congratulations to Beatrice Jenkins, Iona Tanner and Ella Richardson for coming 1st place in the junior section of the ISTD Choreographic competition ‘Creation’ on 12 November 2017 at Bird College.

We are delighted to announce that GAPA pupils Katie Muller and Beatrice Jenkins will be performing at The Hawth Theatre this Christmas, in the Pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. Tickets can be purchased through the website.

We are very proud of all those who auditioned, and are very excited to watch our students perform on stage this Christmas!!

GAPA Summer Show

GAPA Summer Show

Congratulations to all the pupils of the Gielgud Academy who performed brilliantly in the end of year show at the Hub on July 7th, 8th and 9th. Highlights included GAPA Land – an homage to LALA Land and a Cole Porter dance and song medley. On Sunday 9th former Holby City actress Sharon Maughan and pop rock star Saffron from Republica presented medals at the annual GAPA Prizegiving ceremony.

GAPA Creates! 2017

Congratulations to all who took part in our GAPA Creates 2017 competition at the Hub last night. Our judges – West End leading lady Katie Knight Adams and West End performer and Gielgud Management theatrical agent Matthew Cheney, awarded winners cups for Junior, Middles and Senior GAPA pupils in solos, duets, trios and groups. Each original piece was created by the entrant and an array of of choreographed dance, composed songs and comedy and prose was presented. Katie Knight Adams said “Each and every kid did a great job with their creations, so much talent there!”.

 

 

ISTD Springboard

Best of luck to the GAPA pupils performing at the 2017 ISTD ‘Springboard event’ at the Urdang, London on Sunday 30th April. A selection of our junior pupils will be performing with the ‘Kitty Katz Club’ and a selection of our middles and senior pupils will be demonstrating some of the new ISTD contemporary dance technique. GAPA is delighted to have its’ pupils selected for this exciting event which showcases new and creative work for teachers across the UK. Also performing with the GAPA presentation will be award winning professional dancer Dane Hurst. Tickets are available from the ISTD website www.istd.org

It’s Nice in Nice!

GAPA Principal and multi-award winning filmmaker Suzanne Gielgud will be heading down to the South of France in May 2017 to the NICE International Film Festival. Her documentary film has been selected for the Festival and is in competition for both the Jury prize and Best Director of a Feature Documentary award.

Congratulations to dancers who represented GAPA so beautifully at the recent international Imperial Ballet Awards, held at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley.

A special mention goes to Hannah Wood for being selected as a finalist in the Intermediate section.
