Prizegiving 2021

On June 26th GAPA held its annual prizegiving ceremony at the King Edward Hall Lindfield, where medals were presented to those who had achieved great progress over the last year, in spite of the circumstances of the pandemic. A new crop of prefects was announced, and a new head girl, Eve Lewis, was appointed. Eve was presented with the shield from outgoing Head Boy Bailey Johnson, and outgoing Head Girl Maddie Wrigley, both of whom are progressing onto the renowned Bird College in September. Gielgudian medals were also awarded to Tilliana Greenwood who goes to the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in September, and Abbie Mordecai who is going to IC Theatre, Brighton.

GAPA Creates 2021

Despite covid restrictions, and by adhering to strict social distancing and covid safety protocols, we still managed to pull off GAPA Create’s choreography competition at the King Edward Hall Lindfield on June 26th. Parents were unable to attend but pupils cheered each other on as solos, duets, trios, and groups were performed, and prizes were awarded by our adjudicators Phil Gardner and Natalie Ayton (former members of Matthew Bourne). Congratulations to all.

New Year Update

Happy New Year 2021!

Sadly, due to government restrictions, the Gielgud Academy is now closed. Once we come out of Tier 4 lockdown we will review and update you on our return to the studio.

Update

Due to the Government regulations for the 2nd lockdown GAPA is continuing its second half of term on zoom rather than in the studio. We look forward to returning to live classes once the lockdown has been lifted.

Creativity in Lockdown!

GAPA has kept busy during lockdown not only with classes but also being creative. We had a photography competition and a collaborative choreography task where pupils videoed themselves dancing to certain phrases of a song and Mrs G edited them altogether to make a whole dance. Go to our gallery page to see the fabulous end result!

GAPA Zoom timetable

We’re delighted that Covid lockdown has not prevented GAPA pupils from dancing. We have been running lots of wonderful classes over zoom and we are continuing to do so. If anyone is interested in joining us please email or call the office on 01444 812111.

Important Announcement

Following the Government’s recommendations on social distancing we have made the sad decision to close GAPA at this time until the restrictions are lifted. We all wish everyone a safe time during this lockdown and hope that in your houses and gardens you can “keep dancing”.

ISTD Senior Classical Ballet Awards

We’re so proud of our GAPA pupils (Alice, Beatrice, Beatrice, Ella, Eliza, Isabella Alice, Isabella, Emily and Maddie) who represented the school so well by dancing beautifully at the ISTD Senior Ballet Awards at the Hawth this weekend. Huge congratulations to Isabella Alice Evans for getting through to the finals of Grade 5 and to Beatrice Jenkins for coming 3rd place AND getting the musicality cup for Grade 4.
